And so it begins

Awkward how I thought it had been 2 days since I last posted and it has actually been 5. Basically, this week has been a lot of people moving in and some catching up business. I ordered all of my books, went to Target, had Blood Brothers rehearsal, had my math tutoring training, met my ASM, watched tv, went running, Frannie moved in, and got ready for classes to start (tomorrow- eek!). I've also been trying to keep a cold at bay by nuking my body with vitamin C. I will not get sick! Especially since winter generals are apparently next weekend (AHHH no idea what my audition material is going to be... good).

My first, and only, class tomorrow is my accounting class, which is sounding more and more intense by the second. Hopefully it won't be, but there are about 120 people in the class and the professor's going to try to learn everyone's names, and they take attendance so you can't skip eva, including for Thanksgiving which means I'll be getting home at like 9pm the night before Turkey Day.

Madness and Mayhem

Unpacking Wednesday night: explosion status

Moving in MADNESS. The past couple of days have just been so busy, and so not busy at the same time. Basically, I've spent the past three days moving into my room and unpacking/organizing my things. Me and my dorm room this year have kind of a love-hate relationship going on right now, evolved from hate-hate. My roommate Frannie and I had poor lottery draw number and so instead of getting our first choice dorm, which was newly rehabbed and is very nice, we got basically out second to last choice, Hinman, which is old and small. Luckily, our room is pretty nice sized, compared to other Hinman rooms; however, it is also oddly shaped. When my mom and I arrived, the beds were bunked (nope. not happening), and so we spent about an hour and a half moving around furniture to try to get all of the pieces to go together, We originally wanted our beds L shaped, but they didn't fit, so my mom and I settled on this. It's not bad for me, but Frannie's bed is pretty close to the door- I'm afraid we might have to do more rearranging once she gets here on Monday.

Yesterday my mom had to drive back home. We got breakfast first (Swedish pancakes at Clarke's, yum), loaded a few things back into the car, and she left. I was especially bummed yesterday, but I went with Alex and Maia down to Belmont to go thrifting and look for Halloween pieces at a few stores. Alex has decided that he wants us to be Ariel (me) and Ursula (him) for Halloween one night, and is very set on the idea. I'm a little less enthused, because Ariel is one of the Disney princess I resemble least, and the costume would be pretty involved. I'm a big fan of easy costumes, with cool make up, but not a ton of work... and no wigs... so we'll see. Then we had our second Blood Brothers rehearsal (woohoo!!!) and started to learned music. The cast is pretty cool overall so I think this is going to be a good process/show.

This morning I got to sleep in a little bit, lazed around with some Boardwalk Empire, and then finished unpacking- the only thing I have left is hanging pictures! I think I might actually do that now...

Theoristically is not a Word

Tales from the road/Evanston...

Thinking the word "theoristically" when meaning "theoretically"
Stopped only 3 times between Minneapolis and Evanston- gas, starbucks, gas
Got up at 6:39 AM this morning
    Stole the Magic Bullet
Frame broke, brought glue gun to repair
All of my stage managing printing is done for tomorrow
    Tapas Barcelona
Hotel doesn't have Lifetime... missing the Dance Moms reunion
Decided I am going to be the 6th roommate at Rachel/Aleah's apartment
    Apple chips
    Gobstoppers
    Pinterest
    Dessert with Maia
    Looooong day

Tomorrow is our first Blood Brothers rehearsal- we're doing a read through. Should be chill and good to meet everyone. Then straight to check in and getting my key, unloading the car, storage unit, unloading the car, grocery store, unpacking. We'll see how that all goes... busy busy bee up in here!

Anemia

Hey Peoples

I've been pretty busy the past couple o' days getting ready to head back to Evanston, but I think I'm almost ready. At least, physically- I don't know if I'm mentally prepared to go back to school. About two weeks ago I was dying to get outta here, but as of today, I've been getting more upset about returning. The only big reason I want to go back is to see friends again, since this summer has been kind of a social fail with all of the weirdo drams. However, this quarter is gonna be rough work-wise, since I'm essentially taking 6 classes, plus stage managing, plus applications for study abroad/summer internships, plus tutoring, plus Breaking Amish and Boardwalk Empire. Strugs. And I'm gonna miss the fam.

But over the past few days I've managed to see pretty much everyone. Friday night, I met aunt Meg at Crossroad's Deli and got some sandwich, sweet potato fries, and black and white cookie action. We watched The Change Up, which was much more mediocre than I was expecting, but THEN, we started season 1 of Boardwalk Empire, which I had never seen before because we don't get HBO. OH. MY. GOD. I'm addicted. It's so good, so 20's and glamorous. The acting, cinematography, and design (especially costuming) is fantastic. Luckily, they have the first 2 seasons posted online so I can finish out those before getting to season 3, which premiered last night! Yeeeee

Short hair, don't care

This weekend, Allie and I did spa things with face masks and nails, watched some fantastic Lifetime movies, and then yesterday went apple picking with my mom. We had massive amounts of apples, and so cooked an apple-themed feast for our family and the De La Vega's. We made: brie with apple cider jelly for an appetizer, pork chops cooked with cider, apples, and onion, cous cous with pine nuts, steamed carrots, and apple crisp for dessert. It was supa yummy.

Today I finally had my doctor's appointment that was rescheduled from last week, and now I'm convinced that I'm anemic. Reasons: last time I tried to donate blood, my hemoglobin was too low, the fainting episode, I get lightheaded when I stand up at least once a day, I've had clotting issues before when drawing blood, other symptoms are tiredness, and I get tired... now I'm reaching... but still, the hypochondriac in me is convinced that something is wrong.

NOW onto New York Fashion Week. I've been putting off this post because I know I'll have a lot to say about it. Basically, Spring 2013 looks like it's gonna be a lovely season in the world of fashion. Here are some of my favorite picks: London Fashion Week to come.
